Discovering Life’s Adventure: Why ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ Is My Favorite Movie

One of my favorite things to do in my free time is watch movies. Movies are a big part of my life and have shaped my personality in many ways. There are many different movies that I love, but out of all the movies I have watched, there is one that tops them all and is my absolute favorite of all time.

This movie has changed who I am and what I value in life, and I know how that sounds. Yes, it’s just a movie but it is much more than that to me. The movie I am speaking of is “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.”

Everything about this movie just makes me feel free and happy. I could be sad and after watching this movie, I feel better. This movie is about Walter Mitty. He works at Life magazine and spends day after day developing photos for the magazine. Because his life isn’t exciting, Walter goes into his head and daydreams to escape reality where he is usually some hero. Walter works with a woman that he likes very much and would love to date her, but he feels like he isn’t worthy or good enough. He comes across an opportunity that would change his life forever and is sent on a journey of self-discovery where he leaves his comfort zone.

The Movie’s Message and Its Impact on My Life

The biggest reason this movie is my favorite is because of its message and how it makes me feel when I watch it. The main thing I took from this movie was that instead of living cooped up in my house or in my head daydreaming about what I wish I could do or who I wish I could be, I need to get out there and live my life to the fullest and do what I want to do. I have also started carrying my camera with me wherever I go because the world around us is beautiful in so many ways.

The main theme of the movie Is found in the motto for the magazine. The motto is “To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.” This to me is just beautiful, and paired with how great the cinematography is, it’s just perfect. This movie has taught me that when I feel like I’m not good enough or special, I need to realize that no matter how basic or normal I think I am, I am special, I am worthy of living the life I want to live, and I shouldn’t let anything, or anyone stop me.

This movie has also helped me realize that my fantasies of becoming something special, someone special, or interesting, was actually the thing stopping me from pursuing the real goals in my life entirely. It has taught me to follow my passion no matter what it is, whether it be helping people or traveling the world, I can do whatever I want as long as I don’t stop going after it.

Cinematic Brilliance

Like I said earlier, the biggest reason I love it so much is because of its message and how it makes me feel, but the other reasons are because of the cinematography, soundtrack, and acting. I absolutely love music and the soundtrack of this movie is phenomenal. There is one scene, and if anyone has seen this movie, they probably know what I am talking about. In the scene, he is trying to get to this town and all he has is a skateboard. He starts skateboarding down this mountain, and it plays one of my favorite songs from the soundtrack and the song matched with the cinematography is just perfect and clearly shows how free he is starting to feel and how much he is growing out of his comfort zone.

Overall, this movie has many reasons as to why it is my favorite. As a young, introverted man myself that isn’t the best at expressing his thoughts while also daydreaming a lot, it hit me on a personal level as well. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who hasn’t seen it before.
